This article presents an effective method for waterproofing concrete using functionalized polybutadienes, with evaluation on the impact of polymer structure and solvent type on the hydrophobicity of modified concrete. The impregnation effectiveness was assessed through water contact angle measurements and water sorption experiments, resulting in a reduction of water absorption by 94% for the best hydrophobizing preparation compared to unmodified samples.
In order to extend the life of concrete, various impregnation methods are used to protect it from the damaging effects of external factors. This article proposes an easy and effective method of waterproofing concrete using functionalized polybutadienes. The effects of chemical structure of polymers as well as the type of solvent used, on the hydrophobicity of modified concrete were evaluated. The effectiveness of impregnation was assessed based on the water contact angle measurements and water sorption experiments. For the best hydrophobizing preparation, the water absorption was reduced by 94% compared to the absorption for the unmodified sample.
