Direct procedure to characterize the tensile constitutive behavior of strain-softening and strain-hardening UHPFRC

Eduardo J. Mezquida-Alcaraz et al.

Summary: This paper presents a complete process for characterizing the tensile behavior of UHPFRC, involving a simplified inverse analysis based on four-point bending tests and a nonlinear finite element model. Extensive experimental testing was conducted to obtain the UHPFRC tensile constitutive behavior, which was used to develop a predictive application for predicting tensile behavior.

Durability characteristics of high and ultra-high performance concretes

Muazzam Ghous Sohail et al.

Summary: This paper evaluates the durability characteristics of HPC and UHPC compared to NSC, finding that they have dense microstructures, high electrical resistance, negligible chloride permeability, low sorptivity, and resistance to carbonation. With at least three orders of magnitude lower chloride diffusion coefficient in UHPC compared to NSC, these materials are expected to have a longer service life in reinforced concrete structures, especially in harsh-climatic conditions. The study provides valuable data and analysis that could promote the adoption of HPC and UHPC in practice.

Porous Structure of Ultra-High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concretes

Manuel Valcuende et al.

Summary: The experimental work studied the porous structure of Ultra-High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concretes (UH) with different fiber volumes and curing conditions, finding that UH concretes have a fine porous structure with significantly lower water accessibility compared to traditional and high-strength concretes.
