Compressive behaviour of FRP-steel wire mesh composite tubes filled with seawater and sea sand concrete

Yang Wei et al.

Summary: A new type of composite tube filled with seawater and sea sand concrete was proposed, enhancing its performance by embedding a steel wire mesh in fiber-reinforced polymer. This design significantly reduces damage and prolongs the failure time of the specimens.

Summary: This study conducted experimental research on the durability behavior of seawater sea sand concrete, fiber-reinforced polymer, and stainless steel materials in different environments. The results showed that the hydrothermal environment had a greater impact on fiber-reinforced polymer, while stainless steel filled with seawater sea sand concrete exhibited stable performance.

Ductile, durable, and reliable alternative to FRP bars for reinforcing seawater sea-sand recycled concrete beams: steel/FRP composite bars

Yingwu Zhou et al.

Summary: The combination of seawater, sea-sand, and recycled concrete aggregate to create seawater sea-sand recycled concrete (SSRC) offers a promising alternative to mitigate the shortage of raw construction materials. Steel fiber-reinforced polymer composite bars (SFCBs) inherit the advantages of FRP bars while also providing good ductility and stable post-yield behavior, making them ideal reinforcement for concrete structures with corrosive raw materials. Experimental and theoretical investigations have shown that SFCB reinforced SSRC beams exhibit good displacement ductility and remarkable post-yield performance.

Axial stress-strain behavior of carbon FRP-confined seawater sea-sand recycled aggregate concrete square columns with different corner radii

Pengda Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that replacing natural aggregates with recycled aggregates can enhance the CFRP-confinement effectiveness, leading to higher ultimate strength and strain enhancement in concrete. Additionally, the impact of the corner radius ratio on CFRP-confined SSRAC is more pronounced compared to CFRP confined natural aggregate concrete.

Axial compressive behavior and confinement mechanism of circular FRP-steel tubed concrete stub columns

Yanlei Wang et al.

Summary: The experimental study on FRP-steel tubed concrete (FSTC) columns showed that increasing FRP confinement and decreasing steel tube D/t ratio enhanced axial load capacities. After deducting steel tube contribution, concrete core's axial load-strain responses were bilinear, similar to composite columns. Comparison between steel and FRP confinement proposed a mechanism showing interaction between inner core and outer FRP-steel composite tube.

Performance of Circular Concrete-Filled FRP-Grooved Steel Composite Tube Columns under Axial Compression

Kunting Miao et al.

Summary: The new CFGCT column structure composed of stress-released steel tube, FRP, and concrete showed improved bearing capacity and simplified mechanical mechanism. Formulas for calculating ultimate stress, ultimate strain, peak stress, and peak strain were proposed based on test results, and models for predicting stress-strain curves of CFGCT columns accurately simulated the behavior of this new composite structure.

Summary: This study established a database and proposed a new stress-strain model for FRP-SS confined circular concrete columns, which showed good performance in capturing the stress-strain curves at different stages and predicting the residual stages under various confining conditions. The proposed model demonstrated better flexibility and versatility compared to existing models, and the effects of different parameters on the behavior of FRP-SS confined circular concrete were discussed.

Experimental Study on Internal and External Salt Attack from Seawater and Sea-Sand to Mortars

Jikai Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of seawater and sea-sand salt attack on the performance of mortars. It found that internal salt attack can improve early length change of mortars, while external environment is the main factor affecting mortars after 28 days. The volume of hydration solid phase increases with higher salt content in mixing materials.

Summary: The study found that increasing the use of FRP and steel tubes has a significant impact on the axial compressive behavior of HFSCTs, and different confinement materials have different effects on the ultimate stress and ultimate deformation ability of specimens. Additionally, a test database for concrete-filled circular FRP-steel composite tube columns was established by collecting data from 155 samples.
