Axial stress-strain behavior of carbon FRP-confined seawater sea-sand recycled aggregate concrete square columns with different corner radii

Pengda Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that replacing natural aggregates with recycled aggregates can enhance the CFRP-confinement effectiveness, leading to higher ultimate strength and strain enhancement in concrete. Additionally, the impact of the corner radius ratio on CFRP-confined SSRAC is more pronounced compared to CFRP confined natural aggregate concrete.

Axial compressive behavior and confinement mechanism of circular FRP-steel tubed concrete stub columns

Yanlei Wang et al.

Summary: The experimental study on FRP-steel tubed concrete (FSTC) columns showed that increasing FRP confinement and decreasing steel tube D/t ratio enhanced axial load capacities. After deducting steel tube contribution, concrete core's axial load-strain responses were bilinear, similar to composite columns. Comparison between steel and FRP confinement proposed a mechanism showing interaction between inner core and outer FRP-steel composite tube.

Axial compressive behavior of GFRP tube confined seawater coral aggregate concrete reinforced with epoxy-coated bars

Jingwei Ying et al.

Summary: The mechanical behavior of GSCACESB under axial compression was systematically studied, with considerations of concrete type, GFRP tube thickness, and reinforcement ratio. Test results showed that the bearing capacity of GSCACESB decreased compared to GCOC, but increased with tube thickness and reinforcement ratios. The load-deformation curve of GSCACESB was divided into elastic-plastic and hardening stages, with higher reinforcement ratios leading to smaller curve curvature.

Mechanical behavior and durability of coral aggregate concrete and bonding performance with fi ber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars: A critical review

Linlin Zhou et al.

Summary: Utilization of coral aggregates in concrete production can solve raw material shortages in remote islands, but issues such as strength loss and durability performance need further research. Proposed solutions include pre-treatment protocols and utilization of non-corrosive FRP bars to improve the performance of coral aggregate concrete. Further investigation on durability performance and FRP bars reinforced CAC is needed to promote its application in ocean engineering.

Axial compressive behavior of seawater sea-sand recycled aggregate concrete-filled double-skin non-corrosive tubular columns with square cross-section

Pengda Li et al.

Summary: This study presents experimental results on the mechanical properties of seawater sea sand recycled aggregate concrete filled double-skin tubular square columns and discusses the effects of key parameters on structural behavior. The research findings suggest that mixing seawater and sea-sand can compensate for early strength reduction due to recycled aggregate replacement, and void ratio and tube materials significantly influence the stress-strain relationship of the concrete filled columns.

Compressive stress-strain behavior of seawater coral aggregate concrete incorporating eco-efficient alkali-activated slag materials

Summary: This study investigated the use of eco-friendly slag-based alkali-activated materials to improve the weak characteristics of coral aggregates in concrete. Results showed that alkali-activated seawater coral aggregate concrete exhibited better performance than cement-based coral aggregate concrete and a model was established to explain the relationship between stress-strain curves, elastic modulus, and concrete compressive strength.

Summary: The study found that increasing the use of FRP and steel tubes has a significant impact on the axial compressive behavior of HFSCTs, and different confinement materials have different effects on the ultimate stress and ultimate deformation ability of specimens. Additionally, a test database for concrete-filled circular FRP-steel composite tube columns was established by collecting data from 155 samples.
