Mechanical and microstructural properties of dredged sediments treated with cement and fly ash for use as road materials

Pitthaya Jamsawang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical and microstructural properties of dredged sediments treated with ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and fly ash (FA). The results showed that adding FA can improve the mechanical properties of sediments, with the optimal combination being 5% OPC and 10% FA. Microscale analyses were conducted to understand the relationship between sediments and OPC and FA contents.

Swell-shrink behaviour of cement with fly ash-stabilised lakebed sediment

Thanakorn Chompoorat et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated that adding fly ash (FA) to cement-stabilised dredged sediments can improve their mechanical properties and resistance to swelling and shrinkage. Test results of the material mixtures showed that adding an appropriate amount of FA can increase the strength and durability of the stabilized sediments.

Alkali-Activated Controlled Low-Strength Material Utilizing High-Calcium Fly Ash and Steel Slag for Use as Pavement Materials

Thanakorn Chompoorat et al.

Summary: The study found that incorporating slag in alkali-activated CLSM can enhance strength, expedite setting time, and decrease bleeding rate. A mixture with up to 20% slag content of fly ash is recommended for pavement applications. Preliminary investigation into economic and environmental impacts was also conducted.

Repurposing of stabilised dredged lakebed sediment in road base construction

Thanakorn Chompoorat et al.

Summary: The research demonstrated that an appropriate content of fly ash can produce the highest material strengths and stiffnesses in stabilized sediments, regardless of the OPC content or curing time. A suitable replacement ratio of cement with fly ash was found to be 15%. The study provided an empirical correlation between the strength and stiffness of adding fly ash on cement-stabilized lakebed sediment for geotechnical and pavement works.
