Inner soil heave of stiffened caisson during installation in soft-over-stiff clay

Qi Wang et al.

Summary: This study conducted an extensive parametric study on the penetration of stiffened caissons in double-layer soft-over-stiff clay, finding that factors such as caisson diameter, stiffener width, and top-layer soil strength significantly influence inner soil behaviors.

Evaluation of hypoplastic model for soft clays by modelling of Nicoll highway case history

Jan Jerman et al.

Summary: The newly proposed hypoplastic model was evaluated through modelling the geotechnical failure of a deep excavation of Nicoll Highway in Singapore in 2004. The model demonstrated good comparisons with experimental data and improvements over the original hypoplastic model. Numerical simulations of the excavation collapse showed a good fit with inclinometer data up to the final stages, indicating the significance and effectiveness of the model in predicting such failures.

On the behavior of monopiles subjected to multiple episodes of cyclic loading and reconsolidation in cohesive soils

J. Duque et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the behavior of monopiles subjected to multiple episodes of cyclic loading and reconsolidation, evaluating the sophisticated hypoplastic model for clays by Mas?in (2014) with intergranular strain by Niemunis and Herle (1997). The influence of reconsolidation stages on the design of monopiles and the model capabilities to reproduce this behavior are discussed, highlighting the importance of reconsolidation for monopile design.

Performance of tripod foundations for offshore wind turbines: a numerical study

M. Ochmanski et al.

Summary: The deformations induced by cyclic lateral loading on tripod buckets embedded in sand reveal recovery of dynamic stiffness with the number of cycles and subsequent increase in settlement rate, caused by uneven soil fabric and density changes among the buckets. Predicting this effect accurately is a challenge, and back-analysis of centrifuge tests with a three-dimensional finite-element model can provide insights into the phenomenon.
