Double-shell hollow glass microspheres@Co2SiO4 for lightweight and efficient electromagnetic wave absorption

The internal cavities of the material could be adjusted to match the impedance and permittivity between the absorber and air, resulting in precise adjustment of EMA performance through synergistic effects of multiple components, reflections, and scatterings. This design strategy led to excellent EMA performance with strong absorption and broad bandwidth.

Tailoring of N-doped graphite coated cobalt nanoparticles via arc discharge enables high microwave absorption

Summary: In this study, nitrogen-doped graphite-encapsulated cobalt nanoparticles were prepared using a one-step arc-discharge method, with tailored core/shell nanostructure and surface functionality achieved by adjusting the ammonia content in the working gas mixture. The resulting products exhibited better microwave absorption properties than pristine Co micro powders, with optimized reflection loss achieved at specific surface doping nitrogen levels. The enhancement in electromagnetic loss was attributed to proper impedance match of dielectric and magnetic losses, leading to the fabrication of new generation microwave absorbers with desired characteristics.
