A scheme matrix algorithm based on 0 and -1 topological codes is proposed to find the topological form of tensegrity structures with multiple self-stress modes. The structural evaluative tactic reflecting structural stiffness, elastic strain energy, and prestress uniformity is considered in the process, with two illustrative examples thoroughly investigated to prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the method. The optimal topological configuration of tensegrities can be obtained through analysis of weight coefficients and parametric sensitivity, providing theoretical guidance for practical design.
A scheme matrix algorithm based on 0 and -1 topological codes is proposed to find the topological form of tensegrity structures with multiple self-stress modes. Each alternative component is represented by a corresponding identifier, and the scheme matrix is then formulated by encoding structural components with the consideration of geometrical constraints (collocation condition & cross member condition). A structural evaluative tactic which reflects structural stiffness, elastic strain energy and prestress uniformity is considered in the process of topological finding. Two illustrative examples, a spatial tensegrity structure with 54 members and a prism-like tensegrity structures with 24 nodes have been fully investigated to prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. The optimal topological configuration of tensegrities can be obtained through the analysis of weight coefficients and parametric sensitivity, which provides theoretical guidance for practical design.
