The problem of interface delamination of composite laminates excited by ultrasonic shear horizontal waves is investigated, with a focus on the coupling resonance mechanism of interface shear delamination. It is found that as the layer thickness increases, the frequency bands and resonance frequencies of interface shear delamination shift to the low frequency region. The analytical results are verified by a designed stratification experiment, providing a theoretical and experimental basis for the promotion and application of ultrasonic interface shear delamination technology.
The problem of interface delamination of composite laminates excited by ultrasonic shear horizontal waves is investigated. Firstly, in order to accurately express the propagation of elastic wave, by integral transformation methods along with the interface strength failure theory, the closed solution of interface delamination of composite laminates excited by a shear horizontal wave source is deduced theoretically. On the basis of the closed solution, the coupling resonance mechanism of interface shear delamination is revealed. It is found that the interfacial shear stress that causes interfacial shear stratification resonates when the excitation frequency reaches some certain frequency. Frequency bands of interface shear delamination are generated around coupled resonance frequencies. Then, effects of intrinsic parameters, especially the thickness of layer, on interface shear delamination frequency bands, resonance frequencies and interface shear stress are analyzed and discussed. It is found that interface shear delamination frequency bands and resonance frequencies shift to the low frequency region as the thickness of layer increases. Finally, analytic results are verified by the designed stratification experiment. The results could provide the theoretical and experimental basis for the promotion and application of ultrasonic interface shear delamination technology and interface anti-delamination technology of composite laminates.
