Green synthesis of novel carbohydrate polymer chitosan oligosaccharide grafted on D-glucose derivative as bio-based corrosion inhibitor

M. Rbaa et al.

Summary: A novel chitosan oligosaccharide macromolecule carrying a glucose moiety (COS-g-Glu) has been synthesized and proven effective as a non-toxic, durable, and biodegradable inhibitor of mild steel corrosion in acidic medium. Experimental results demonstrate that the corrosion inhibition efficiency of this macromolecule increases with the concentration of the inhibitor, reaching an optimum value of 97% at 10(-3) M.

Summary: A novel EPT epoxy polymer was developed and investigated for its anticorrosive performance on carbon steel in [1 M] HCl medium. Experimental results showed high inhibitory efficiencies of EPT through chemical adsorption to resist acid attack, demonstrating its potential as an inhibitor for carbon steel. Computational approaches further supported these findings, indicating spontaneous adsorption and affirming the effectiveness of EPT.

Adsorption of redox-active Schiff bases and corrosion inhibiting property for mild steel in 1 molL-1 H2SO4: Experimental analysis supported by ab initio DFT, DFTB and molecular dynamics simulation approach

Sirsendu Sengupta et al.

Summary: The synthesized Schiff base molecules show excellent corrosion inhibition properties for mild steels immersed in 1 mol L(-1) H2SO4 solution, forming a protective layer over the metal surface. Surface studies and elemental characterizations confirm the formation of corrosion protection layers. The adsorption capability and spontaneity of the synthesized inhibitors were explained based on experimental findings, density functional theory, and Fukui indices analysis.

Insight into the corrosion inhibition of novel macromolecular epoxy resin as highly efficient inhibitor for carbon steel in acidic mediums: Synthesis, characterization, electrochemical techniques, AFM/UV-Visible and computational investigations

R. Hsissou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid solutions in the presence of a newly synthesized macromolecular epoxy resin. The results showed that the compound significantly reduced the corrosion rate of carbon steel by forming a stable protective film on the metal surface, with corrosion efficiencies of about 95.5% in HCl and 98% in H2SO4. Langmuir isotherm model was the most suitable to describe the adsorption of the epoxy resin on the surface of carbon steel. Theoretical calculations supported the experimental results, confirming the epoxy resin as a highly effective inhibitor against carbon steel corrosion in acidic media.

Summary: This review focuses on the development and application of epoxy polymers and composites as potential anticorrosive coatings for carbon steel in a marine environment, as well as the use of various global quantum chemical descriptors calculated using density functional theory. The results obtained from Monte Carlo simulations are consistent with the data of DFT calculations and experimental results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the studied materials and methods.

Performance of Methanolic Extract of Artemisia herba alba as a Potential Green Inhibitor on Corrosion Behavior of Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution

Siham Echihi et al.

Summary: The methanolic extract of Artemisia herba alba (MEAHA) showed potential as a green inhibitor for mild steel corrosion in 1M HCl solution. Increasing MEAHA concentration led to higher anti-corrosive protection efficiencies of 91%, 89%, and 90% for weight loss (WL), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), respectively. The adsorption of MEAHA followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and the green inhibitor was well adsorbed by the active centers on the mild steel surface.
