Research of Lilium brownii leaves extract as a commendable and green inhibitor for X70 steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid

Xiuli Zuo et al.

Summary: A corrosion inhibition method based on an extract of Lilium brownii leaves was developed to effectively restrain the corrosion of X70 steel in the pickling process, with a corrosion efficiency of about 85% at all tested temperatures. The mechanism of corrosion inhibition, including the adsorption model and structure-function relationship, was elucidated through comprehensive study and quantum chemistry calculations. This work can potentially inspire the development of high-performance green inhibitors for future applications in pickling solutions.

Investigating the inhibitive effect of Davidia involucrata leaf extract as a biological eco-friendly inhibitor for copper in acidic medium

Xin Zhang et al.

Summary: Experimental and theoretical studies show that Davidia involucrata leaf extract can inhibit copper effectively in sulfuric acid solution, with an inhibition efficiency of up to 90%. Bonding information was detected using FTIR and XPS, and the formation of an effective film by DLE to protect copper was observed through SEM and AFM. Langmuir adsorption model is the most suitable for illustrating the adsorption mechanism of DLE on copper surface, supported by quantum chemical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation.
