The inductive effect of montmorillonite/polyether sulfone membrane during the ion diffusion process

Zhe Chen et al.

Summary: This study utilized inexpensive 2D material montmorillonite to prepare an assembled montmorillonite/Poly ether sulfone (Mt/PES) membrane for diffusion tests. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirmed the membrane's ion selectivity and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) revealed an interesting inductive signal influenced by the characteristics of the Mt. sheets, electrolyte concentration, and diffusing time. These findings suggest that the tunable conductance of Mt./PES membrane has potential applications in nanoelectronic devices.

New design for titanium-pillared montmorillonite composites as efficient heterogeneous catalysts to enhance Fe(II) reductivity for 2-nitrophenol removal

Pengcheng Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, titanium-pillared mont-morillonite composites were designed, prepared, and calcined at different temperatures to investigate their catalytic performance in promoting the reductive activity of Fe(II) at solid/water interfaces under anoxic conditions. The results showed that the optimal reductive catalytic activity for Fe(II) was observed in the sample annealed at 200 degrees C. Factors such as catalyst structure, anatase TiO2 content and distribution, surface acidity, and impedance were found to govern the reductive transformation of 2-nitrophenol by the Fe(II) species adsorbed onto the composites.

Characterization of NH4-montmorillonite under conditions relevant to Ceres

Victoria Munoz-Iglesias et al.

Summary: Research interest in NH4-smectites on Ceres has increased, with studies characterizing these minerals under conditions mimicking the surface environment of the dwarf planet. The results show varying structural stabilities of NH4-montmorillonite, providing insights into the provenance of precursor materials on Ceres and aiding in the selection of payloads for future space missions. The study highlights the effectiveness of combining different analytical methods in characterizing and interpreting mineralogical composition.

Novel covalent organic polymer-supported Ag nanoparticles as a catalyst for nitroaromatics reduction

Fariba Rezaei et al.

Summary: In this experiment, a Schiff-base covalent organic polymer (COP) synthesized with different amounts of silver nanoparticles trapped by O and N atoms was used as an efficient nanocatalyst for the reduction of nitroaromatics. The catalyst structure was confirmed using various analysis techniques, and the Ag nanoparticles were found to be evenly distributed on the COP. The COP nanoparticles were proven to be an effective pattern for the elimination of industrial contaminants.
