Recent advances in bicarbonate-activated hydrogen peroxide system for water treatment

Hanping Pan et al.

Summary: Bicarbonate activated hydrogen peroxide oxidation system (BAP system) has shown excellent performance in water treatment under neutral or weak alkaline conditions. The high reactivity of HCO4- and its collaboration with various reactive species facilitate direct oxidation of pollutants. Moreover, HCO3- in the BAP system exhibits multiple functions to stabilize reactions and prolong the catalyst's lifetime.

Co/N co-doped carbonaceous polyhedron as efficient peroxymonosulfate activator for degradation of organic pollutants: Role of cobalt

Huiwang Dai et al.

Summary: The study synthesized a Co/N co-doped polyhedron carbonaceous catalyst (Co@N-C-2) with abundant mesoporous, high graphitization degree, and cobalt content via the pyrolysis of core-shell MOFs composite (ZIF-8@ZIF-67). The two cobalt species in Co@N-C-2 were found to play different roles in PMS activation, with Co-N-x serving as active sites for the O-1(2) evolution pathway and Co NPs enhancing electron transfer pathway. The catalyst showed superior catalytic performance in removing organic pollutants and high resistance to inorganic anions and natural organic matter.

A highly efficient Fenton-like catalyst based on isolated diatomic Fe-Co anchored on N-doped porous carbon

Jingren Yang et al.

Summary: A highly efficient Fenton-like catalyst based on isolated diatomic Fe-Co anchored on N-doped porous carbon was reported, showing outstanding catalytic activity for BPA degradation. The unique FeCoN6 configuration and pyrrolic N adsorption site contribute to the ultra-high catalytic performance of the diatomic Fe-Co catalyst in the heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate.

Bamboo-like N-doped carbon nanotube-confined cobalt as an efficient and robust catalyst for activating monopersulfate to degrade bisphenol A

Ha Trang Nguyen et al.

Summary: Researchers have proposed a unique Co-based catalyst by utilizing tubular-structured N-doped carbon substrates derived from dicyandiamide to confine Co nanoparticles, forming N-doped carbon nanotubes (CNT) with bamboo-like morphology. This CoCNT catalyst exhibits significantly higher catalytic activities than Co3O4 for activating monopersulfate (MNP) to degrade BPA.
