Summary: Testing residual clinical specimens provided a similar seroprevalence estimate yet yielded limited insight into the local epidemiology of COVID-19 and might be less representative of the source population than a cluster-sampled community survey. Awareness of the limitations of various sampling strategies is necessary when interpreting findings from seroprevalence assessments.

Summary: This report highlights the public health response to a COVID-19 outbreak in a San Francisco shelter, emphasizing the limited effectiveness of case investigation, person-based contact tracing and symptom screening, and the benefits of mass testing in outbreak response.

Summary: In response to reported COVID-19 outbreaks among homeless populations in Atlanta, Georgia, facility-wide testing revealed higher SARS-CoV-2 prevalence among sheltered homeless individuals compared to unsheltered individuals. Symptom screening showed moderate sensitivity and specificity in identifying COVID-19 cases. Repeat testing at shelters documented decreased SARS-CoV-2 prevalences, and implementation of IPC measures at some shelters was part of the COVID-19 response strategy.

Summary: Studies have shown that only a small proportion of global SARS-CoV-2 infections have occurred outdoors, with indoor transmission being more likely compared to outdoor transmission. There is considerable heterogeneity in study quality and definitions of outdoor settings, which limits the ability to draw definitive conclusions about outdoor transmission risks.

Summary: Between June 23 and July 2, 2020, a seroprevalence study conducted at 14 sites in Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis in the Ile-de-France region found that 52% of the 818 individuals recruited tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. Seroprevalences varied significantly by type of recruitment site, with the highest in workers' residences (88.7%), followed by emergency shelters (50.5%), and food distribution sites (27.8%). Over two thirds of COVID-19 seropositive individuals did not report any symptoms during the recall period, and living in crowded conditions was strongly associated with exposure level.

Summary: A study was conducted in San Francisco to assess a hotel-based isolation and quarantine care system for homeless individuals. Most guests were able to complete their stay at the I/Q hotel, with factors associated with premature discontinuation being unsheltered homelessness and quarantine status.

Summary: Sleeping arrangements and staffing policies in homeless shelters are associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection prevalence, with shelters implementing head-to-toe sleeping and excluding symptomatic staff being less likely to have high infection prevalence. Shelters with medical services available are less likely to have very high infection prevalence. Proper infection prevention practices should be followed in homeless shelters to reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

Summary: People experiencing homelessness are at higher risk for chronic health conditions and severe illness when hospitalized with COVID-19, with most patients being from racial/ethnic minority groups and having underlying health issues. Severe outcomes such as ICU admission, mechanical ventilation, and deaths were more common among Hispanic and non-Hispanic black individuals in this population.

Summary: Local agencies in Atlanta, Georgia collaborated to establish isolation and noncongregate hotels for individuals experiencing homelessness with and without COVID-19. Through proactive community-based and hospital-based testing, PEH were referred to isolation hotels where their symptoms were monitored daily. The high completion rate of isolation at the hotel suggests its acceptability as a COVID-19 mitigation strategy.
