Progression to prediabetes or diabetes in young Korean women with polycystic ovary syndrome: A longitudinal observational study

Young Min Choi et al.

Summary: About 20% of normoglycaemic women developed prediabetes or type 2 diabetes after a median follow-up time of 2.9 years, while nearly half of prediabetic women achieved normoglycaemia. Higher baseline fasting glucose levels were associated with an increased incidence of type 2 diabetes. The results are the first to evaluate changes in glycaemic status using all three parameters in patients with PCOS.

Reproductive Hormones and Anthropometry: A Follow-Up of PCOS and Controls From Perimenopause to Older Than 80 Years

Maria Forslund et al.

Summary: The study found that women with PCOS aged 72 to 91 had lower FSH levels, remained clinically hyperandrogenic, and had similar FAI and body composition as controls. From perimenopausal age until the present age, levels of testosterone and FAI continued to decline in women with PCOS, while SHBG levels continued to increase with age.
