High-Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin Predicts Major Cardiovascular Events in Diabetic Patients With Critical Limb Ischemia and Foot Lesions

Paolo Cimaglia et al.

Summary: In diabetic patients with CLI and foot lesions, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-TnT) has been identified as a powerful biomarker for predicting major cardiovascular events (MACE) and all-cause mortality independently of CAD diagnosis. The optimal cutoff values for hs-TnT in predicting these adverse outcomes differ between patients with and without established CAD. The addition of hs-TnT to the prognostic evaluation can improve risk stratification and assist in identifying high-risk patients who may benefit from tailored intervention.

Predicting mortality with cardiac troponins: recent insights from meta-analyses

Giuseppe Lippi et al.

Summary: The introduction of cardiac troponin testing has been a crucial advancement in clinical practice, essential for diagnosing acute coronary syndrome. Studies have shown that cTn values can predict mortality risk in both healthy individuals and patients with a variety of cardiac and non-cardiac diseases.
