Transverse Pedicle Angle Is Associated With Pelvic Incidence and Increased in Lumbar Isthmic Spondylolisthesis

Atticus Coscia et al.

Summary: This retrospective study investigated the transverse pedicle angle (TPA) in patients with different types of lumbar spondylolisthesis and its association with pelvic incidence (PI). The results showed that TPA was significantly increased in isthmic lumbar spondylolisthesis compared to degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis and controls. High PI predicted a wider TPA, and the TPA changed sequentially through the lumbar spine levels.

Sacropelvic Parameters and L5 Spondylolysis: Computed Tomography Analysis

Joseph Frederick Baker

Summary: This retrospective analysis of computed tomography scans found an association between increased pelvic incidence (PI) and decreased sacral table angle (STA) with L5 spondylolysis. Logistic regression analysis revealed that only PI and STA were significant predictors for the presence of spondylolysis.

Long-term (> 10 years) clinical outcomes of instrumented posterolateral fusion for spondylolisthesis

A. M. Lehr et al.

Summary: This study found favorable long-term clinical outcomes (>10 years) after single-level instrumented posterolateral spinal fusion for lumbar degenerative or isthmic spondylolisthesis with neurological symptoms. Patient satisfaction was high, with over 70% reporting lasting improvement in back and/or leg pain, and no revision surgeries for non-union were reported.

What is the difference in pedicle morphology of the fifth lumbar vertebra between isthmic and degenerative L5-S1 spondylolisthesis? An anatomic study of 328 patients via multi-slice spiral computed tomography

Chao Tang et al.

Summary: The morphology of L5 pedicles in isthmic and degenerative L5-S1 spondylolisthesis patients showed significant differences, with isthmic spondylolisthesis showing shorter, wider, and more angular pedicles, while degenerative spondylolisthesis showing longer, narrower, and less angular pedicles. The correlation between pedicle parameters and percentage of slip differed between the two groups.

Factors associated with using an interbody fusion device for low-grade lumbar degenerative versus isthmic spondylolisthesis: a retrospective cohort study

Clayton Inculet et al.

Summary: This study compared the characteristics associated with interbody device utilization between patients with degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS) and isthmic spondylolisthesis (IS), as well as the rates and outcomes of interbody device use in the two groups at 1 year post-surgery. While there were demographic differences between the cohorts, similar proportions of patients achieved clinically meaningful improvement at 1 year after surgery.

Lumbar Pedicle Morphology and Vertebral Dimensions in Isthmic and Degenerative Spondylolisthesis-A Comparative Study

Dhruv K. C. Goyal et al.

Summary: The study compared osseous anatomy in patients with symptomatic DS and IS, finding significant differences in pedicle size and angulation between the two groups. Patients with IS had smaller pedicles in the lumbar spine, with differences in angulation at specific levels.
