Gravitational-Wave Energy Flux for Compact Binaries through Second Order in the Mass Ratio

Niels Warburton et al.

Summary: Within the framework of self-force theory, gravitational-wave energy flux is computed through second order in the mass ratio for compact binaries in quasicircular orbits. Results are consistent with post-Newtonian calculations in weak fields, and show good agreement with numerical-relativity simulations in strong fields. This study is important for accurately modeling extrememass-ratio inspirals and intermediate-mass-ratio systems.

Time domain metric reconstruction for hyperbolic scattering

Oliver Long et al.

Summary: This paper develops a technique for (numerical) self-force calculations that efficiently tackle scatter orbits, based on a time-domain reconstruction of the metric perturbation from a scalarlike Hertz potential that satisfies the Teukolsky equation.

Second-order gravitational self-force in a highly regular gauge

Samuel D. Upton et al.

Summary: Research shows that highly regular gauges can more efficiently extract system parameters from EMRI waveforms in numerical calculations. By deriving expressions for the metric perturbation and the distributional source of the second-order field, it is possible to calculate the second-order self-force more accurately.
