Myocardial Vascular Function Assessed by Dynamic Oxygenation-sensitive Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Long-term Following Cardiac Transplantation

Nadia Iannino et al.

Summary: Coronary vascular function is related to adverse outcomes following cardiac transplantation, and impaired myocardial oxygenation can be identified using oxygenation-sensitive cardiac magnetic resonance even in the absence of cardiac allograft vasculopathy. These abnormalities can be evaluated with simple breathing maneuvers.

Assessment of Myocardial Function During Blood Pressure Manipulations Using Feature Tracking Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance

Kady Fischer et al.

Summary: In an animal model, biventricular function is compromised outside the coronary autoregulatory zone. Dysfunction at pressures below the lower limit is likely caused by insufficient blood flow and tissue deoxygenation. Conversely, hypertension-induced systolic and diastolic dysfunction points to high afterload as a cause.

Hyperventilation/Breath-Hold Maneuver to Detect Myocardial Ischemia by Strain-Encoded CMR Diagnostic Accuracy of a Needle-Free Stress Protocol

Marco M. Ochs et al.

Summary: The study evaluated a fast, needle-free test for myocardial ischemia using fast Strain-ENCoded (fSENC) CMR after a hyperventilation/breath-hold maneuver. HVBH-strain showed high diagnostic accuracy in detecting coronary artery stenosis, being faster and not requiring contrast agents or pharmacological stressors compared to other methods.

The blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) effect of in-vitro myoglobin and hemoglobin

Summary: This study investigated if deoxygenated myoglobin has a BOLD-like effect in MRI. The results showed significant changes in T2 and T2* mapping in Mb samples under different oxygenation states, indicating a BOLD-like effect.
