Achieving simultaneous Cu particles anchoring in meso-porous TiO2 nanofabrication for enhancing photo-catalytic CO2 reduction through rapid charge separation

Jinyan Xiong et al.

Summary: A facile solvo-thermal approach was used to prepare TiO2 nanoaggregates with copper particles, which could convert CO2 into CH4 and CO products under simulated solar irradiation. The optimal composite consisting of TiO2 supported with 5% Cu exhibited significantly higher CH4 and CO yields compared to pure TiO2. The involvement of Cu particles facilitated efficient charge separation and improved the photo-catalytic performance.

Aspect ratio dependent photocatalytic enhancement of CsPbBr3 in CO2 reduction with two-dimensional metal organic framework as a cocatalyst

Yamin Xi et al.

Summary: By utilizing a two-dimensional Ni based metal-organic framework as a cocatalyst, the conversion efficiency of CsPbBr3 perovskites for photocatalytic CO2 reduction has been significantly enhanced. The enhancement in CO production is positively correlated with the aspect ratio of CsPbBr3, with an increased driving force for promoted interfacial electron transfer and superior charge separation properties.

Capture and separation of CO2 on BC3 nanosheets: A DFT study

Houyong Yang et al.

Summary: This study explores the adsorption behavior of CO2 on BC3 nanosheets under an external electric field, finding a transition from physisorption to chemisorption in a specific electric field range and reversible adsorption/desorption controlled by switching on/off at a certain electric field value. Additionally, BC3 shows selective adsorption capabilities for different gases, making it a potential material for gas separation and purification.

Engineering an Interfacial Facet of S-Scheme Heterojunction for Improved Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution by Modulating the Internal Electric Field

Yamin Xi et al.

Summary: Constructing a step-scheme (S-scheme) heterojunction is a promising route to improve photocatalytic activities by manipulating charge transfer and separation, with interfacial facet engineering playing a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of separation behaviors for powerful redox reactions. The directionality of migration and recombination of charge carriers is greatly accelerated by a stronger built-in electric field and band bending around the interface, leading to more efficient spatial separation for participating in overall redox reactions. It demonstrates significant superiority in photocatalytic H-2 evolution and provides new insights into the rational construction of S-scheme photocatalysts based on interfacial facet design and internal electric field regulation.

Construction of Cr-embedded graphyne electrocatalyst for highly selective reduction of CO2 to CH4: A DFT study

Ling Fu et al.

Summary: This study explores the electrocatalytic potential of different transition metals in the CO2 reduction reaction, and finds that embedding Cr into graphyne is the most efficient option for producing CH4. Additionally, it is discovered that CO2 is more advantageous for the hydrogen evolution reaction to preferentially occupy the activation site than H2 on Cr-graphyne. These results provide a new path for the development of low-potential electrocatalysts with high activity and selectivity for CO2 reduction.
