The effect of coagulation on the removal of algogenic organic matter and the optical parameters for predicting disinfection byproducts

Lingfei Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of coagulation treatment on Microcystic aeruginosa AOM and the DBPs produced from it using multiple analysis methods, finding that aluminum salt coagulant can remove some AOM components but has limited precipitation ability, and the formation of DBPs is correlated with spectral parameters.

Removal of Microcystis aeruginosa and control of algal organic matter by Fe(II)/peroxymonosulfate pre-oxidation enhanced coagulation

Boji Wang et al.

Summary: Fe(II)/Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) pre-oxidation enhanced coagulation can effectively remove algal cells and reduce algal organic matter content, providing a promising method for controlling Microcystis aeruginosa in eutrophic water.

How Much of the Total Organic Halogen and Developmental Toxicity of Chlorinated Drinking Water Might Be Attributed to Aromatic Halogenated DBPs?

Jiarui Han et al.

Summary: The study developed an effective method with ultraperformance liquid chromatography to analyze the DBP mixture from chlorination of bromide-rich raw water, separating them into aliphatic and aromatic fractions. The results showed that aromatic fractions accounted for a significant portion of the TOX and developmental toxicity in the original chlorinated water samples, indicating that the overall developmental toxicity of chlorinated water is mainly attributed to aromatic halo-DBPs with high bioconcentration potential.
