Bisphenol A induces apoptosis through GPER-dependent activation of the ROS/Ca2+-ASK1-JNK pathway in human granulosa cell line KGN

Mingquan Huang et al.

Summary: The study found that BPA exposure induces apoptosis of KGN cells through the activation of GPER-dependent signaling pathways, leading to increased expression of apoptotic proteins, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, and elevated generation of ROS and Ca2+. Inhibiting ROS and Ca2+ as well as the corresponding signaling pathways can effectively inhibit BPA-induced cell apoptosis.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), hexabromocyclododecanes (HBCDD), dechlorane-related compounds (DRCs), and emerging brominated flame retardants (EBFRs) in foods: The levels, profiles, and dietary intake in Latvia

D. Zacs et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the Latvian population's exposure to various brominated flame retardants through food consumption. While HBCDD was the primary exposure substance, PBDEs, DRCs, and EBFRs also contributed to intake. Risk assessment based on EFSA's approach indicated that the estimated dietary exposures are unlikely to have significant health concerns for the Latvian population.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers exert genotoxic effects in pantropic spotted dolphin fibroblast cell lines

Imran Rashid Rajput et al.

Summary: The study used a skin fibroblast cell line as an in vitro model to investigate the effects of polybrominated diphenyl ethers on cell viability, oxidative stress, mitochondrial structure, and apoptosis in cetaceans. The results suggest that PBDEs may have adverse health effects on cetaceans living in contaminated marine environments.
