An interlaboratory study evaluating the interpretation of forensic glass evidence using refractive index measurements and elemental composition

Ruthmara Corzo et al.

Summary: The study found that three techniques (refractive index, mu XRF, and LIBS) had high correct association rates for samples originating from the same source in forensic glass sample comparisons. Similarly, there were high correct exclusion rates for samples from different vehicles. Significant variations in reported conclusions between laboratories were observed, highlighting the need for standardization of reporting language.
