The interfacial structure of α-Ti/TiC in graphene-reinforced Ti6Al4V matrix composite coating prepared by laser cladding: first-principles and experimental

Lizheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The alpha -Ti (0001)/TiC (111) interface was studied using first-principles calculations and experiments, leading to the establishment of two atomic terminals and four interface models. Good agreement was observed between calculation and experimental data. The C-termination-hollow-sited interface was found to be the most stable with the smallest interfacial distance, minimum interface energy, and largest work of adhesion. Bond analysis revealed that Ti-C covalent bonds across the interface contributed mainly to the interfacial bonding strength.

Effect of TiCnp on microstructure and mechanical behaviour of high-performance Al7150-TiC nanocomposites

Pagidi Madhukar et al.

Summary: This research investigated Al7150-TiC nanocomposites and found that adding 1.0 wt% of TiC ceramic reinforcement led to improved mechanical properties, with a 33.3% increase in tensile strength and a 14.7% increase in micro hardness compared to monolithic materials.

Modeling of force and temperature in cutting of particle reinforced metal matrix composites considering particle effects

Wei Sun et al.

Summary: This study focused on the influence of particles on cutting force and temperature in particle reinforced metal matrix composites (PRMMCs) machining. Analytical models for force and temperature were developed, incorporating particle effects and validated against experimental results. The findings showed that considering particle effects in the models resulted in more accurate predictions, with the analysis highlighting the complex interplay between particle content, shear strength, and tool face temperature in PRMMCs cutting.
