Endogenously activated persulfate by non-thermal plasma for Cu(II)-EDTA decomplexation: Synergistic effect and mechanisms

Yue Liu et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel strategy of coupling non-thermal plasma (NTP) and persulfate (PS) oxidation for decomplexation of Cu-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Cu-EDTA), achieving an obvious synergistic effect. Multiple spectroscopy analyses and Density Functional Theory calculation showed that Cu-O and Cu-N of Cu-EDTA were destroyed in the process.

Polyoxo-titanium clusters promoted photocatalytic H2 evolution activity in a NiS modified CdS/MIL-101 system

Hui Chang et al.

Summary: A new strategy was developed in this work to design and synthesize quaternary catalysts with excellent photocatalytic activity for H2 evolution. The photocatalysts showed significantly enhanced hydrogen production activity, with the possibility of further improvement by tuning the structural evolution of PTCs. The photocatalytic enhancement was attributed to the contributions of PTCs and NiS in matching energy gap, improving visible-light response, and inhibiting recombination of electron-hole pairs.

In Situ Porphyrin Substitution in a Zr(IV)-MOF for Stability Enhancement and Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Xiang-Jing Kong et al.

Summary: In this study, a strategy for enhancing stability and functionality in labile Zr(IV)-MOFs through in situ porphyrin substitution has been proposed. The introduction of a robust linear porphyrin ligand significantly improved the chemical stability of the resulting MOFs. The modified MOFs exhibited high catalytic activity in CO2 photoreduction, showing promise for converting unstable MOFs into robust functional materials.

Insights into the novel application of Fe-MOFs in ultrasound-assisted heterogeneous Fenton system: Efficiency, kinetics and mechanism

Nannan Geng et al.

Summary: In this study, a new ultrasound/H2O2/MOF system was applied for tetracycline hydrochloride removal using environmentally-friendly FeMOFs. MIL-88B demonstrated the best catalytic performance, and the synergistic effect between ultrasound and Fenton reaction was found to be important for tetracycline hydrochloride removal. Under optimal conditions, a higher first-order kinetic rate constant was achieved compared to individual ultrasound or MIL-88B/H2O2 systems.
