Graphene-modified graphite paper cathode for the efficient bioelectrochemical removal of chromium

Jiani Yao et al.

Summary: The study showed that the three-dimensional graphite foam formed by liquid nitrogen treatment of graphite paper can enhance the reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) in MFCs, attributed to the porous structures, edges, and O-doped defects on the surface providing more active sites and inhibiting OH- diffusion, leading to a high local pH.

Review on the electromagnetic interference shielding properties of carbon based materials and their novel composites: Recent progress, challenges and prospects

Nannan Wu et al.

Summary: The rapid development of electronic devices has raised concerns about electromagnetic radiation issues, and the most effective way to address electromagnetic pollution is to fabricate electromagnetic interference shielding materials and microwave absorption materials with lightweight and strong attenuation abilities. Carbon nanocomposites have attracted attention in the field of electromagnetic interference shielding due to their low density, natural abundance, easy preparation, excellent conductivity, and flexibility. Recent advancements in carbon materials as ESMs/MAMs have shown that 3D carbon materials and novel composites have the potential to enhance electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency.

Recent Advances of Asymmetric Supercapacitors

Nannan Wu et al.

Summary: This article introduces the structure and material compositions of asymmetric supercapacitors, which are classified into two types: electric double-layer capacitor//pseudocapacitive-type and electric double-layer capacitor//battery-type hybrid, using carbon materials and different metal oxides/hydroxides as anodes and cathodes. Recent advances show that Li-ion-based ASCs have great potential, and the challenges and prospects for the development of ASCs are pointed out.

Endogenously activated persulfate by non-thermal plasma for Cu(II)-EDTA decomplexation: Synergistic effect and mechanisms

Yue Liu et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel strategy of coupling non-thermal plasma (NTP) and persulfate (PS) oxidation for decomplexation of Cu-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Cu-EDTA), achieving an obvious synergistic effect. Multiple spectroscopy analyses and Density Functional Theory calculation showed that Cu-O and Cu-N of Cu-EDTA were destroyed in the process.
