Functional Fibers and Fabrics for Soft Robotics, Wearables, and Human-Robot Interface

Jiaqing Xiong et al.

Summary: Soft robotics inspired by living organisms' movement offer excellent adaptability and accuracy, making them highly desirable for efficient operations and safe interactions with humans. Advances in wearable electronics have led to a pursuit for higher tactility and skin affinity for safe and user-friendly human-robot interactions. The utilization of dynamic fibers and fabrics in soft-robots and wearables is becoming increasingly favored for their active stimulus responses.

Metal salt modified PEDOT: PSS fibers with enhanced elongation and electroconductivity for wearable e-textiles

Qiang Gao et al.

Summary: A continuous process was developed to prepare conductive PEDOT: PSS fibers with enhanced elongation and electroconductivity for potential applications in wearable e-textiles. Resultant fibers with the assistance of Li+ possess a breaking elongation of more than 50%, the highest value reported to date, showing exceptional electroconductivity. Special anisotropic structure inside the composite fibers provides new inspirations for the development of wearable electronics with good sensitivity and high capacitance.
