Gas supersaturation and diffusion joint controlled CH4 nanobubble evolution during hydrate dissociation

Cong Chen et al.

Summary: The characteristics of CH4 nanobubbles during NGHs dissociation vary with hydrate dissociation temperature, with higher temperatures leading to earlier bubble nucleation and more complex evolution paths. Gas supersaturation and CH4 molecule diffusion govern the evolution of CH4 nanobubbles, with nanobubbles more likely to form outside the adsorption zone at lower temperatures where CH4 diffusion coefficient is larger.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation Studies of Gas Hydrate Growth with Impingement

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates methane hydrate growth with impingement using molecular dynamics simulation, revealing unique features like dislocation, two-occupied hydrate cages, and fast methane diffusion. The findings show that methane molecules can hop between different hydrate cages and exhibit a faster diffusion rate when gas bubbles are present.

Asymmetric competitive adsorption of CO2/CH4 binary mixture in shale matrix with heterogeneous surfaces

Jingyue Sun et al.

Summary: The CO2 sequestration and enhanced gas recovery (CS-EGR) technology is effective in alleviating the greenhouse effect and energy crisis, especially in understanding the competitive adsorption behavior of CO2 and CH4 in shale matrix. The graphene-MMT heterogeneous surface pore model plays a vital role in studying the competitive adsorption features.

The growth of methane hydrate with impingement influenced by thermodynamic inhibitor

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the impact of NaCl, KCl, and ethylene glycol on hydrate growth. It was found that these thermodynamic inhibitors delayed the accelerated growth stage of hydrate, reduced the growth rate, and lowered the methane concentration in the water solution. The ions of NaCl and KCl behaved differently during the growth stage while ethylene glycol molecules tended to occupy specific cages and occur in pairs or clusters. Additionally, the inhibitors exhibited a dual role of inhibition in the growth stage and destruction in the impingement stage.

Effect of nanoparticles as a substitute for kinetic additives on the hydrate-based CO2 capture

Zucheng Cheng et al.

Summary: The research proposes a novel mixed additive composed of SiO2/Al2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) and tetrabutylammonium-bromide (TBAB), which can significantly reduce the induction time of hydrate formation, increase gas consumption, and accelerate the rate of hydrate formation.

Aggregation Behavior of Asphalt on the Natural Gas Hydrate Surface with Different Surfactant Coverages

Zherui Chen et al.

Summary: The study reveals that asphalt aggregation primarily depends on pi-pi interaction, and with increasing surfactant coverage, larger aggregates are easier to form. Moreover, increasing the concentration of surfactant is not the best solution to resolve pipeline blockage issues, as it is essential to fully utilize the anti-agglomerant effect of asphalt itself.
