Highly tunable syngas production by electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 using Ag/TiO2 catalysts

Young Eun Kim et al.

Summary: The study focuses on investigating Ag/TiO2 catalysts for electrochemical reduction of CO2 to syngas with a controllable H-2/CO ratio. By manipulating oxygen vacancies and phase differences of TiO2, a stable H-2/CO ratio was achieved with high Faradaic efficiency and partial current densities. The introduction of oxygen vacancy defects and phase changes in TiO2 influenced the H-2/CO ratio of the catalyst, showing promising results for syngas production.

Tuning the electronic structure of AuNi homogeneous solid-solution alloy with positively charged Ni center for highly selective electrochemical CO2 reduction

Jican Hao et al.

Summary: The article introduces a new method of atom-polymer hybridization to synthesize AuNi homogeneous solid-solution alloy catalysts, which exhibit excellent CO selectivity and high CO Faradaic efficiency. The positively charged Ni in the alloy enhances the local electronic structure of AuNi, leading to improved CO2 activation and interaction between *COOH and AuNi (111).

Triple-phase electrocatalysis for the enhanced CO2 reduction to HCOOH on a hydrophobic surface

Pengtao Yue et al.

Summary: Introducing a hydrophobic surface on Cu/Sn nanowires can significantly improve the Faraday efficiency for HCOOH production and achieve excellent CO2 conversion activity even at high overpotential. The rich triple-phase interfaces at the hydrophobic surface enhance CO2 mass transfer and increase the selectivity of HCOOH, providing a facile and promising approach for improved electrochemical CO2 reduction.

Formation of 1-Butanol from CO2 without *CO Dimerization on a Phosphorus-Rich Copper Cathode

Minjun Choi et al.

Summary: This study successfully achieved the conversion of carbon dioxide into 1-butanol on a phosphorus-rich copper cathode through a combination of faradaic and autonomous nonfaradaic reactions. The faradaic efficiency for 1-butanol formation reached 3.868%, indicating a promising new perspective for the C-C coupling reaction on Cu-based electrocatalysts.
