Fast and Selective Aqueous-Phase Oxidation of Styrene to Acetophenone Using a Mesoporous Janus-Type Palladium Catalyst

Majid Vafaeezadeh et al.

Summary: By selectively modifying the surface of hollow mesoporous silica material, a heterogeneous Janus-type palladium interphase catalyst was obtained, showing exceptional activity for the aqueous-phase oxidation of styrene to acetophenone. The catalyst demonstrated an 88% yield of acetophenone after 60 minutes of reaction.

Dinuclear Copper Complex Immobilized on a Janus-Type Material as an Interfacial Heterogeneous Catalyst for Green Synthesis

Majid Vafaeezadeh et al.

Summary: A rational design of a heterogeneous catalyst was described, featuring a dinuclear cuprate anion immobilized on one surface of Janus-type nanosheets and highly hydrophobic octyl groups on the other surface. The catalyst exhibited higher activity in biphasic synthesis and was successfully used in azide-alkyne cycloaddition and Chan-Lam C-N coupling reactions. New ways for the production of a coumarin-triazole derivative and the synthesis of biologically active compound Monastrol were established.

Tadpole-like Janus nanotubes

Xiuyuan Zuo et al.

Summary: Tadpole-like Janus nanotubes with controlled size were fabricated using a sol-gel reaction at the emulsion interface. Pd or Fe3O4 nanoparticles were selectively captured into their cavities, resulting in tadpole-like Janus Pd-nanotubes or Fe3O4-nanotubes. They can be directionally driven by a chemical fuel or near-infrared light.
