Neural representational similarity between symbolic and non-symbolic quantities predicts arithmetic skills in childhood but not adolescence

Summary: The study found a positive correlation between cross-format NRS in children's brains and arithmetic skills. Conversely, no significant association was found between cross-format NRS and arithmetic skills in the adolescent and young adult group. The results suggest that the relationship between symbolic-non-symbolic NRS and arithmetic skills depends on developmental stage.
