Ti3C2-Based MXene Oxide Nanosheets for Resistive Memory and Synaptic Learning Applications

Atul C. Khot et al.

Summary: MXene, a novel 2D nanomaterial with excellent electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties, shows promising potential in digital and analog computing applications, especially in bipolar resistive switching and synaptic learning devices. The study explored Ti3C2 MXene and investigated its structural, compositional, and morphological properties, as well as the impact of different top electrodes on device performance. The results indicate that MXene is a promising nanomaterial for non-volatile memory and synaptic learning applications.

Forming-free flexible memristor with multilevel storage for neuromorphic computing by full PVD technique

Tian-Yu Wang et al.

Summary: Flexible resistive random access memory (RRAM) has great potential in wearable electronics, but the intrinsic disadvantages of flexible substrates limit their development. Physical vapor deposition (PVD) fabrication simplifies preparation steps and reduces costs, while the forming process increases energy consumption and limits RRAM applications.

Suppressed Stochastic Switching Behavior and Improved Synaptic Functions in an Atomic Switch Embedded with a 2D NbSe2 Material

Yu-Rim Jeon et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of chemical vapor-deposited two-dimensional niobium diselenide material for resistive switching and synaptic characteristics in atomic switch devices. Inserted Ti and NbSe2 buffer layers were found to effectively control Ag-ion diffusion, enhancing device reliability. Through STEM and EDS analysis, filament connection was found to be related to the SET and RESET processes. Additionally, various synapse functions were demonstrated with the 2D NbSe2 buffer layer, and stable switching and synapse functions were achieved using a CVD 2D NbSe2 blocking layer to control Ag-ion diffusion.

Facile synthesis of nickel cobaltite quasi-hexagonal nanosheets for multilevel resistive switching and synaptic learning applications

Tukaram D. Dongale et al.

Summary: A novel nickel cobaltite (NCO) nanosheet-based memristive device with multilevel resistive switching (RS) capability and synaptic learning applications is proposed. The device shows voltage-tunable and electroforming-free resistive switching effect, with memristive properties calculated using time-dependent current-voltage data. Mimicking biological synaptic properties, the device demonstrates three conductive states and spike-timing-dependent plasticity rules.

Towards engineering in memristors for emerging memory and neuromorphic computing: A review

Andrey S. Sokolov et al.

Summary: Resistive random-access memory (RRAM), also known as memristors, with a simple device structure, fulfills the basic requirements of volatile memory, nonvolatile memory, and neuromorphic characteristics, leading to extensive research interest in various materials fields. By studying the electrical behaviors and switching mechanisms exhibited by RRAM devices based on different materials, as well as the application of material engineering techniques to enhance device performance, including memory and neuromorphic behavior, improvements can be made in areas such as I-ON/I-OFF ratio, endurance, spike time-dependent plasticity (STDP), and paired-pulse facilitation (PPF).
