Mechanical performances and microstructures of metakaolin contained UHPC matrix under steam curing conditions

Zongyun Mo et al.

Summary: This study found that steam curing significantly enhances the early compressive strength of UHPC matrix, but restrains late strength growth. Higher curing temperature facilitates a higher reaction degree of MK with cement, but decreases cement hydration degree. In terms of pore structure, the influence of steam curing on MK mixture is not significant.

Enhanced effect of carbon nanofibers on heating efficiency of conductive cementitious composites under ohmic heating curing

Weichen Tian et al.

Summary: The utilization of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) has been shown to significantly enhance the heating efficiency of carbon fibers (CFs) in cementitious composites under Ohmic heating (OH) curing method. The addition of CNFs increases the peak curing temperature and temperature-increase rate, leading to a more efficient curing process. Additionally, the microstructural heating mechanism based on the distribution type of CNFs in CF/CNF-CCC samples is clarified, demonstrating the effective construction of a conductive network integrating both CNFs and CFs.

Long -term hydration and microstructure evolution of blended cement containing ground granulated blast furnace slag and waste clay brick

Yasong Zhao et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the interaction between ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and waste clay brick powder (CBP) in blended cement containing 30% and 50% Portland cement. Both GGBFS and CBP decrease the hydration heat of blended cement, but GGBFS accelerates C3A hydration more significantly. GGBFS mainly improves compressive strength before 90 days, while CBP continues to enhance strength after an initial reduction.

Contribution of fiber alignment on flexural properties of UHPC and prediction using the Composite Theory

Huanghuang Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of fiber alignment on the flexural properties of UHPC with different steel fiber lengths and volumes. The flow-induced casting method significantly enhances fiber orientation, leading to increased flexural strength and toughness. Increases in fiber length, volume, and orientation all result in higher flexural-to-tensile strength ratios of UHPC. The Composite Theory can be used to predict the flexural strength of UHPC with a maximum spread of 15%.

Incorporation of self-ignited coal gangue in steam cured precast concrete

Junyi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of PC with varying CG dosages and curing conditions, finding that steam curing significantly affects the pozzolanic reaction of CG particles in CG-PC, mitigating negative impacts from CG addition. A suitable steam curing regime and proper CG content can achieve the production of high-quality, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly green concretes.
