Adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solution on activated carbons and composite prepared from an agricultural waste biomass: A comparative study by experimental and advanced modeling analysis

Hanjing Xue et al.

Summary: Activated carbons and MOF-based composites were prepared from ashitaba biomass for the adsorption of methylene blue, and results showed that the surfactant-functionalized activated carbon outperformed other adsorbents with an adsorption capacity exceeding 400 mg/g. This adsorbent shows promising application potential for treating wastewater polluted by dye molecules.

Effective adsorption of dyes on an activated carbon prepared from carboxymethyl cellulose: Experiments, characterization and advanced modelling

Huifeng Wang et al.

Summary: An activated carbon with high surface area and outstanding adsorption properties was prepared for dye removal from water, obtained from the chemical activation and pyrolysis of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. Different characterization techniques and experimental adsorption isotherms at different temperatures were utilized to interpret the dye adsorption mechanism. Overall, the new adsorbent showed competitive performance for dye removal in aqueous solution.

Lignin containing cellulose nanofibers (LCNFs): Lignin content-morphology-rheology relationships

Tianzhong Yuan et al.

Summary: The study found that lignin content significantly affects the morphology and rheology of LCNFs. High lignin content leads to reduced fibrillation efficiency, resulting in large LCNFs, while lower lignin content produces a fibril network with high viscosity and strong gel behavior.

Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) produced by different mechanical methods to improve mechanical properties of recycled paper

Fugang Hu et al.

Summary: The morphology and length of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) have a significant impact on their reinforcement effect in recycled paper, with higher aspect ratios leading to better reinforcement. CNFs produced by microfluidic homogenization and suitable PFI milling conditions showed the best reinforced effect, improving tensile index and burst index significantly. This study aimed to investigate the influence of CNFs on reinforcing recycled fibers.
