Control of surface functionalization of graphene-metal oxide polymer nanocomposites prepared by a hydrothermal method

Summary: This study presents the formation of nanocomposites by doping graphene oxide with a metal and polymer, showing that the functional groups on the graphene oxide surface play a crucial role in dispersing polymer chains and facilitating interactions with metal particles. The characterized nanocomposite consists of nano-shaped thin stacked flakes with well-defined edge structure, where metal particles are uniformly dispersed with an average size of 1-25 nm. The synthesized nanocomposites have potential applications in dye adsorption and degradation.

Water-induced shape memory behavior of poly (vinyl alcohol) and p-coumaric acid-modified water-soluble chitosan blended membrane

Summary: In this study, p-coumaric acid-modified water-soluble chitosan (M-Cs) and poly (vinyl alcohol) blended membrane (PVA/M-Cs) were successfully prepared to enhance the water-induced shape memory behavior, with a shape recovery ratio reaching nearly 100%. The addition of M-Cs into the PVA polymer matrix not only improved the shape memory behavior but also decreased the water contact angle value.
