Potential therapeutic effect of turmeric contents against SARS-CoV-2 compared with experimental COVID-19 therapies: in silico study

Mustafa Emirik

Summary: Based on in silico methodology, this study investigated the potential of turmeric compounds as protective or therapeutic agents against COVID-19. The results suggest that turmeric spice has the ability to inhibit vital proteins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, making it a potential therapeutic option. Compound 4, 23, and 6 showed the most significant inhibitory effects on the main protease, spike glycoprotein, and RNA polymerase, respectively. Molecular dynamics simulations confirmed the stability of ligand-protein interactions.
