mtROS-mediated Akt/AMPK/mTOR pathway was involved in Copper-induced autophagy and it attenuates Copper-induced apoptosis in RAW264.7 mouse monocytes

Qin Luo et al.

Summary: Copper is a trace element necessary in animals and humans, but excessive copper can be toxic to immunocytes, leading to apoptosis and autophagy. Copper induces autophagy through the Akt/AMPK/mTOR pathway and increases autophagy through an mtROS-dependent signaling pathway. Autophagy activation potentially improves cell apoptosis induced by copper.
