Design and construction strategies to improve covalent organic frameworks photocatalyst's performance for degradation of organic pollutants

Si-Yu Hu et al.

Summary: COFs are a class of crystalline porous organic polymers that have received extensive attention in the field of photocatalytic degradation. Strategies to improve the photocatalytic activity of COFs include design of ligands and structures, with a focus on COF composites. The photocatalytic mechanism and future prospects of COFs in photocatalytic degradation are discussed.

Light-induced carboxylation of aryl derivatives with cooperative COF as an active photocatalyst and Ni(ii) co-catalyst

Pekham Chakrabortty et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic carboxylation of aryl derivatives was successfully demonstrated using mesoporous COF as the catalyst and TEA as the sacrificial electron source under visible light at atmospheric pressure. The reaction cycle relies on the usage of Ni(dmg)(2) co-catalyst and TEA, and the reaction does not occur without light or at elevated temperature. The system is also capable of achieving product yield using sunlight and is recyclable for multiple cycles.
