Dissecting the transcriptome in cardiovascular disease

Emma L. Robinson et al.

Summary: This review discusses the challenges in studying the role and regulation of the non-coding transcriptome in cardiovascular disease, including poor annotation of the non-coding genome, determination of transcript cellular distribution, assessment of RNA processing, and identification of cell-type specific changes. It highlights similarities and differences in analyzing the non-coding and protein-coding transcriptomes, as well as the impact of lack of consensus and standardized methods on reproducibility of data.

CDR132L improves systolic and diastolic function in a large animal model of chronic heart failure

Sandor Batkai et al.

Summary: In a chronic model of post-myocardial infarction heart failure, monthly administration of CDR132L improved cardiac function, reversed cardiac remodelling, and ameliorated diastolic function, indicating its safety and therapeutic efficacy for chronic heart failure treatment.

A Novel Circulating MicroRNA for the Detection of Acute Myocarditis

Rafael Blanco-Dominguez et al.

Summary: By identifying a novel microRNA mmu-miR-721 in mice and its human homologue hsa-miR-Chr8:96 in patients with myocarditis, researchers found that this microRNA could effectively distinguish patients with myocarditis from those with myocardial infarction, providing a potential non-invasive diagnostic approach.

CDR132L improves systolic and diastolic function in a large animal model of chronic heart failure

Sandor Batkai et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CDR132L in a clinically relevant large animal model of chronic heart failure after myocardial infarction. Results showed that CDR132L treatment significantly improved cardiac function and reversed cardiac remodeling, indicating its potential as a treatment for chronic heart failure.
