A robust network binder via localized linking by small molecules for high-areal-capacity silicon anodes in lithium-ion batteries

Zeheng Li et al.

Summary: A robust network binder (PG-c-ECH) is proposed to achieve stable cycling performance and high areal capacity of silicon anode by localized linking. The binder, rich in hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, ensures strong binding affinity between peach gum and silicon, while the introduced chemical crosslinker further enhances the localized linking for the polymer chains, resulting in durable interfacial adhesion and outstanding mechanical properties.

Effects of SiC and Resorcinol-Formaldehyde (RF) Carbon Coatings on Silicon-Flake-Based Anode of Lithium Ion Battery

Yonhua Tzeng et al.

Summary: The study focuses on using recycled silicon flakes coated with SiC and RF carbon coatings as active materials for LIB anodes. Thermal carbonization at 1000 degrees C forms 5-nm SiC encapsulating silicon flakes, providing physical strength and enhancing electrical conductivity. Experimental results show that coin half-cells with combined SiC and RF carbon coatings exhibit varying performance at different cycle numbers.
