Synthesis of Optically Active V-Shaped Molecules: Studies on the Orientation of the Stacked p-Electron Systems and their Chiroptical Properties

Nanami Miki et al.

Summary: Chiral p-stacked molecules were prepared from planar chiral bis-(para)-pseudo-meta-type [2.2]paracyclophane, forming a V-shaped structure with an angle of 120 degrees. Optical and chiroptical properties of these molecules were experimentally and theoretically investigated and compared with V-shaped molecules comprising the same pi-electron systems based on bis-(para)-pseudo-ortho-type [2.2]paracyclophane with an angle of 60 degrees.
