A new species of Drymonia, called Drymonia peponifera, is discovered in Ecuador. This study provides a descriptive and photographic overview of four types of Drymonia fruits, aiming to facilitate future documentation on the fruit structure and dehiscence of Drymonia plants.
A new species of Drymonia (Gesneriaceae, Columneinae) is described from Ecuador. A descriptive and photographic overview of four Drymonia fruit types is provided to facilitate future documentation of Drymonia fruit structure and dehiscence. Drymonia peponifera differs from other species by the presence of fruits with tardily dehiscent endocarps and calyx lobes pilose, deeply serrate to pinnatifid, with each pinna reflexed and undulate.
