The Impact of Mindfulness Training on Police Officer Stress, Mental Health, and Salivary Cortisol Levels

Daniel W. Grupe et al.

Summary: An 8-week mindfulness intervention for police officers led to significant improvements in psychological distress, mental health symptoms, and sleep quality, with these benefits persisting at 3-month follow-up. Additionally, intervention participants had a lower cortisol awakening response at 3-month follow-up, suggesting that this training may help mitigate the long-term consequences of chronic stress.
