Direct superior approach versus posterolateral approach in total hip arthroplasty: a randomized controlled trial on early outcomes on gait, risk of fall, clinical and self-reported measurements

Michele Ulivi et al.

Summary: In this study comparing direct superior approach (DSA) and posterolateral approach (PL) for total hip arthroplasty, DSA resulted in longer surgical times but lower blood loss. DSA showed lower risk of fall, improved gait and kinematic parameters, highlighting rapid muscle strength recovery.

Sex-Specific Difference in Dynamic Balance Following Total Hip Replacement

Robin M. Queen et al.

Summary: This study found that post-THA patients have balance limitations, especially in the operative limb and female patients. These results emphasize the need for sex-specific postoperative rehabilitation programs to improve long-term outcomes, especially in older adults with muscle weakness and balance deficits.
