Computed Tomographic Morphometry of Lumbar Spine in Indian Population

Vivek Singh et al.

Summary: This study conducted morphometric analysis of lumbar vertebrae in a relatively large number of Indian patients using computed tomography scan. The findings showed that lumbar vertebral and pedicle dimensions were generally greater in male patients, and there were statistically significant differences in pedicle dimensions between Indian population and others when compared to different populations. The data compiled may aid in the development of new spinal implants to meet the specific needs of the studied population.

Summary: The study compared osseous anatomy in patients with symptomatic DS and IS, finding significant differences in pedicle size and angulation between the two groups. Patients with IS had smaller pedicles in the lumbar spine, with differences in angulation at specific levels.
