A meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies for average daily gain and lean meat percentage in two Duroc pig populations

Shenping Zhou et al.

Summary: This study utilized GWAS and meta-analysis to investigate the genetic architecture of ADG and LMP traits in pigs, identifying novel QTLs and candidate genes associated with these traits. The combination of single-population and meta-analysis of GWAS improved the efficiency of detecting additional SNPs for the analyzed traits. The results provide new insights into the genetic basis of ADG and LMP in pigs and suggest potential markers for marker-assisted selection in pig breeding.

Genome-wide association study and Mendelian randomization analysis provide insights for improving rice yield potential

Jing Su et al.

Summary: Rice yield is mainly controlled by minor-effect loci, and selecting quantitative trait locus/gene affecting component traits can further enhance yield. Loci for GPP or TP primarily have a positive genetic effect on yield, while loci for KGW have different effects; in addition, TP has a greater impact on yield than KGW and GPP.

Meta-GWAS for quantitative trait loci identification in soybean

Johnathon M. Shook et al.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-Genome Wide Association Study involving multiple traits in soybean, identifying potentially valuable candidate genes affecting multiple traits. The success in narrowing down the genomic region for some loci through overlapping mapping results of multiple studies is promising for community-based studies and plant breeding applications.

Mining favorable alleles for five agronomic traits from the elite rapeseed cultivar Zhongshuang 11 by QTL mapping and integration

Xianming Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, a doubled haploid population derived from the elite rapeseed cultivar ZS11 and 195-14A was developed, and a high-density genetic linkage map was constructed using a SNP array. Multiple QTL related to yield and quality traits were identified, with most favorable alleles coming from ZS11. Comparative genomics and expression analysis predicted potential candidate genes underlying these QTL, providing insights for future allele cloning.
