Electrochemiluminescence Microscopy of Cells: Essential Role of Surface Regeneration

Summary: Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy is successfully used for imaging cells, micro-/nano-objects, and electrochemical processes. The decrease of ECL signal during successive image recordings is a key limitation for ECL microscopy development. An electrochemical approach involving cathodic regenerative treatment can restore the ECL signal intensity, allowing for continuous image recording without signal loss.

Summary: In this study, a DNA-mediated Au-Au dimer was constructed to enhance the ECL signal of GCN QDs. By regulating the dimer gap distance, the signal amplification effect was achieved, showing good analytical performance for detecting breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 with a detection limit of 0.83 fM.
