Acid-induced molecule self-assembly synthesis of Z-scheme WO3/g-C3N4 heterojunctions for robust photocatalysis against phenolic pollutants

Jiaqi Meng et al.

Summary: The method of in situ acid-induced self-assembly of melamine and sodium tungstate combined with hydrothermal treatment was used to fabricate oxygen-doped porous sheet-like WO3/g-C3N4 heterojunctions, which exhibit enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity for the degradation of phenolic pollutants, acetaminophen, and methylparaben. The extraordinary Z-scheme charge transfer manner plays a dominant role in accelerating charge carrier separation and retaining powerful redox ability, while the porous sheet-like nanostructures and oxygen doping positively influence the activity by improving light harvesting, providing plentiful active sites, shortening charge carrier migration distance, and facilitating charge carrier separation.

Engineering of g-C3N4 nanoparticles/WO3 hollow microspheres photocatalyst with Z-scheme heterostructure for boosting tetracycline hydrochloride degradation

Haochuan Jing et al.

Summary: The integration of g-C3N4 NP with WO3 NHMs to form a direct Z-scheme heterojunction has developed a highly efficient photocatalyst for tetracycline hydrochloride removal. This structure enhances optical absorption, promotes reactant molecule adsorption, and facilitates effective charge separation and transfer. The hybrid catalyst shows significantly improved photocatalysis towards TC degradation compared to bulk g-C3N4 and pristine WO3 NHMs.

A novel Au/g-C3N4 nanosheets/CeO2 hollow nanospheres plasmonic heterojunction photocatalysts for the photocatalytic reduction of hexavalent chromium and oxidation of oxytetracycline hydrochloride

Wei Zhao et al.

Summary: The Au/g-C3N4/CeO2 plasmonic heterojunction was successfully fabricated, showing excellent photocatalytic reduction activity against Cr6+ and oxidation of oxytetracycline hydrochloride. The enhancement of photocatalytic performance is attributed to high absorption capability of visible light and effective interface charge separation. The heterostructures were speculated to follow Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism, as verified by experimental and theoretical calculations.
