Comparative Transcriptome Analysis of Cynanchum thesioides Under Drought Stress Reveals Candidate Genes Involved in Succinic Acid Biosynthesis

Xiaoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: C. thesioides plants have been used in traditional Chinese medicine due to their medicinal value, particularly in their latex containing succinic acid. Through transcriptome analysis under drought stress, candidate genes involved in succinic acid biosynthesis and accumulation were identified and their activities related to succinic acid synthesis were determined.

High-level production ofd-pantothenic acid from glucose by fed-batch cultivation ofEscherichia coli

Shu-Ping Zou et al.

Summary: Different glucose feeding strategies and isoleucine-limited feeding had significant impacts on D-PA production. A multistage glucose supply strategy embedded with isoleucine feeding achieved the highest titer of 39.1g/L, the highest reported so far for engineered E. coli production of D-PA.

Hydrogen peroxide and salinity stress act synergistically to enhance lipids production in microalga by regulating reactive oxygen species and calcium

Tengsheng Qiao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of combined salt stress and hydrogen peroxide treatment on lipid accumulation in Monoraphidium sp. QLY-1. The results showed that the combined treatment significantly increased lipid productivity. The study further indicated that regulating factors like ROS, Ca2+, and MAPK can promote biomass regulation and lipid accumulation in microalgae.

Integration of physiological and metabolomic profiles to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms underlying the stimulatory effect of melatonin on astaxanthin and lipids coproduction in Haematococcus pluvialis under inductive stress conditions

Yongteng Zhao et al.

Summary: The study revealed that melatonin treatment upregulated the biosynthesis of astaxanthin and lipids in Haematococcus pluvialis, affecting the accumulation process through the regulation of gene expression and metabolic pathways. The treatment may promote coproduction of astaxanthin and lipids by regulating the carbon-nitrogen balance and antioxidant system.

Simultaneous improvement of astaxanthin and lipid production of Haematococcus pluvialis by using walnut shell extracts

Chunli Yu et al.

Summary: Walnut shell extracts significantly increased the production of astaxanthin and lipids in Haematococcus pluvialis, while decreasing chlorophyll, carbohydrate, and protein contents. The regulation of astaxanthin and lipid biosynthesis was shown to involve LOV-HK and ROS signaling pathways, highlighting a pivotal interaction between the two components. Utilizing walnut shell recycling in microalgae cultivation can be an effective strategy for achieving high accumulation of astaxanthin and lipids.
