Lignin-based adsorbent-catalyst with high capacity and stability for polychlorinated aromatics removal

Haiwei Guo et al.

Summary: Utilizing lignin as carbonaceous material for pollution adsorption provides an alternative method for lignocellulose valorization. Among the lignin-based adsorbents, LC-B showed the best adsorption capacity for toxic gaseous pollutant removal and demonstrated excellent recycling stability. The excellent performance of lignin-based adsorbents is attributed to its abundant pore structure, high specific surface area, enhanced graphitization degree, and abundant hydroxyl functional groups.

Efficient removal of cationic dyes via activated carbon with ultrahigh specific surface derived from vinasse wastes

Lindong Li et al.

Summary: This study proposed a simple and feasible approach for converting waste vinasse into high value-added activated carbon, which showed excellent adsorption ability to cationic methylene blue and high removal efficiency for industrial wastewater treatment. The results provide insights into solid waste treatment and high value-added transformation, as well as a promising application of AC for practical wastewater purification.

Magnetic carbon nanofiber composite adsorbent through green in-situ conversion of bacterial cellulose for highly efficient removal of bisphenol A

Piyatida Thaveemas et al.

Summary: A magnetic carbon nanofiber sorbent was successfully synthesized from bio-based bacterial cellulose and FeCl3, showing good magnetization and high adsorption capacity towards bisphenol A without the need for additional activation. Furthermore, the sorbent exhibited excellent recycling performance and maintained its magnetic properties even after 10 consecutive cycles. The use of renewable materials and a green synthesis approach in this study led to the development of a sustainable magnetic carbon nanofiber adsorbent.

ISOTHERM, KINETICS AND THERMODYNAMICS ADSORPTION STUDIES OF DYE ONTO Fe3O4WASTE PAPER ACTIVATED CARBON COMPOSITES

Adel Fisli et al.

Summary: This paper focused on the adsorption properties of Fe(3)O(4) waste paper activated carbon composites for removing methylene blue dyes from water. The study found that the optimum adsorption capacity occurred at pH 6 and peaked at 315K, with Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order model as the most appropriate adsorption models. The thermodynamic analysis showed that the adsorption process was endothermic, feasible, spontaneous, and random.
